What's it all about, then?

This site deals with me, Chris Holland, and my life and loves, which are listed in the navigation bar. Each section has text and pictures and are updated fairly frequently.
Pericoloso is the nom de plume of a European child of the twentieth century. Born in Hamburg, in post-war West Germany, as the son of a serving soldier, I have continued to follow my itchy feet and visit Europe as frequently as time and finances permit.
I am now semi-retired and live in rural Bedfordshire, in the East of England.
I studied French and German at the University of Nottingham and became a school teacher, working first in Doncaster, South Yorkshire and then in Bedford, finishing my career as Assistant Head.
Since taking early retirement in 2003, I devote my time to travel, gardening, watching football and winning pub quizzes as part of the wonderful Harpers' Bizarre team.
